Rick: A Kid at Heart

For those of you who don't know, I serve in the young womens program in our ward. So every Wednesday night I leave to go to mutual and my husband is nice enough to watch the boys so that I don't have to take them with me. Which I really do appreciate every week but to be honest I always get a little nervous at what I will find when I come home at the end of the night. Rick has a lot of creative ideas and I have come home to all kinds of different things. Like the time I got home and I could hear music coming from our apartment and I walked in to find them dancing around with their shirts off with plastic golf clubs as guitars, or the time I came home to find that they had all decided to give each other haircuts. I'm just never sure what to expect. Well this last Wednesday we had New Beginnings and Rick and the kids had dropped me off at the church because they didn't want to be stuck in the house all night. If Rick and I have learned one thing it is that our kids are easier to take care of when we are out and about. It is when we are all sitting home in our tiny apartment that we all drive each other crazy. So I knew that he was thinking about taking them to the mall after they dropped me off. I also knew that the toy store at the mall was having a huge going out of business sale. What I did not know was that my husband was going to feel the need to help the store out by buying the rest of their inventory. This is what I came home to on Wednesday night. A great big bag full of all this:

He kept trying to tell me what a great deal he gotten on all this stuff and I must admit that he did get a good deal. All these toys for about $15 dollars. He kept trying to tell me that we didn't have to give them to Tyler all at once or that we could even save them and give them to Tyler for his birthday in a few months. I really didn't care that he had boughten all this stuff that we didn't really need on our tight budget. My only issue was that I didn't know where we were going to put them all since I already feel like the kids toys are already TAKING OVER OUR ENTIRE APARTMENT. Anyways even though he had supposedly boughten all this for Tyler, for some reason he couldn't help himself and before he went to bed that night he had opened all the toys and set them all up and had played with them himself. Which makes me wonder if he really bought them for Tyler or if he bought them for himself. Either way I just thought it was funny that Rick couldn't help but be excited at the toy store. You see, in reality Rick is just a big kid at heart. That is why we love him so much and that is why he is such a fun dad to our boys!

Fun Week

We have had a fun week this past week. Here are a couple of random things that happened at the Webster house.

1) Rick started another semester of school on Monday. Here he is on the first day of class. I think he looks great. After this semester we are half way done with the school part of his program. Yea! So far so good. He stays busy between classes and practicum. Me and the kids sure appreciate him working so hard for our family. Good luck this semester. We love you.


2)This past Friday, Logan rolled over for the first time. I am with the little guy 24/7 but he decided to roll over for the first time when I left him for 1 hour to go visiting teaching. Go figure. He showed me later that day though. And ever since he figured out how to roll over that first time now all he wants to do is roll over. Everytime we put him on the ground he just rolls right over. He thinks it is pretty fun.

3) Also on Friday we babysat our friends little baby Will. He is just a few weeks younger than Logan. We think they are going to be pretty good friends some day. For now they just like to sit and stare at each other.

4) A new light rail recently opened in Phoenix. We decided to go and try it out. Tyler was thrilled about it because he thought it was a train. He was very excited the whole ride. (If you haven't noticed yet, Tyler has a serious look on his face in most pictures. He really does get excited about stuff even though he doesn't show it.)

5) This past week the weather has been absolutely perfect. Mid 70's and sunny. We have been trying to take advantage of it by going on lots of walks. We all enjoy it because it gets us out of the house and it doesn't cost any money.:)

Tyler's favorite place to walk to is the park. There is a nice park not too far from our house. He loves to play in the sand, swing, and go down the slide. He has such a good time we have a hard time getting him to leave!

Cardinals Playoff Game

This post might look similar to one I had a few months ago but believe it or not we went to ANOTHER Cardinals NFL game. We went to the playoff game between the Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons. The Cardinals won, of course, and now they are one game away from the Super Bowl. My dad called the night before the game and said that if we could find some tickets he would pay for us to go, so half an hour later we called him and told him that we had just boughten two tickets! All we needed was the money and we were there. It didn't really work out trying to find a babysitter so we decided to make it a family event. It was really fun and exciting to be there. You could feel all the energy in the air. We had a really great time! So once again, thanks dad for making it all possible. Here are some pictures from the game.

I wasn't sure how the kids would do at the game, but Tyler loved it. He stood out in the aisle yelling and waving his towel while he was jumping up and down and dancing to all the music. He thought it was great. Logan on the other hand was just in awe of the whole thing and didn't know what to think.

We wanted to remember that this was the first year that Cardinals were actually good since they have been in Arizona and they even won the NFC West division.

Trip to Idaho

Here are some more pictures from our trip to Idaho like I promised I would post. They are just random pictures of things that we did. We stayed busy with playing in the snow, shopping, and being with family and friends. We had a great time.

We took turns riding in the sled behind the four wheeler. We had a lot of fun until my dad drove off the path into a big weed patch. We were picking weeds out of our hair and teeth for a week.

Here is Tyler standing by the snowman that he and Rick built. I thought it was funny because it was about the smallest snowman I have ever seen built by real snow. They set it right next to the front door to greet everyone that came over.

Ever since Tyler was just a few months old he and my mom have danced around our living room to the same song. I can't remember the name of the song but Tyler loves it. He wants to listen to it over and over and over again and again and again. He loves dancing to this song with Grandma. Tyler has just gotten so big that he has to dance on his own now, Grandma can't hold him and dance anymore. Whenever we go to Grandmas house Tyler looks forward to being able to dance with Grandma.

While my entire family was home we decided to go up to Rexburg and go bowling. This was Tylers first time bowling and he LOVED it. He had a blast just running up and throwing the ball. He didn't even care if he hit any pins or not. I thought it was funny because they gave him little tiny bowling shoes. He loves when he gets to be just like the adults.

Of course if you are going to visit Rexburg you have to stop in and eat at Fongs for old times sake. Fongs brings back a lot of memories of when we lived in Rexburg. It doesn't look that nice on the outside but we are always pleasantly surprised with how good the food is when we eat there.

Christmas

This year for Christmas we were able to go up to Idaho to spend the holidays with my family. Rick was in between semesters so we were able to stay for about two and a half weeks. We had a great time being with family even though we were freezing the entire time. Here are just a few pictures from Christmas. I will post more pictures from our trip later so now you can all have something to look forward to.

Tyler opening presents Christmas morning. If he opened a toy he was excited, if he opened clothes he just threw the box without even looking at them. I guess clothes just aren't as exciting to him as they are to me. After every present Tyler would say "more presents?" He just couldnt' get enough.

Tyler got this marble mania toy from Santa. He loves it but has a hard time putting it together. Luckily his dad and uncle Alex had enough brains to figure it out. Lookin' good guys!

Mesa Arizona Temple Lights

Last Saturday night we went down to Mesa to see the christmas lights at the temple. They have thousands of lights and different choirs from around the community come and sing every night. Tyler is really getting excited for Christmas. He especially loves Christmas trees and Christmas lights. He is getting pretty excited about the presents too!

To make the night perfect for Tyler we had to stop and get ice cream cones for the ride home. He was pretty excited about it in this picture.

Fun Friday!

I am not one to get up at the crack of dawn and go shopping on Black Friday, but we did go to Target later that day to see if we saw any great deals. We weren't that impressed. Maybe it was because we got there late and all the good deals were gone or maybe it was because we had no money to spend anyways so it would have basically had to be free for us to be impressed. Either way Tyler still had fun scoping out all the sales.

That night we wanted to do something fun for the holiday weekend so we decided to decorate our apartment for Christmas. We started out the night by ordering pizza for dinner. Tyler loves pizza! Then we hung some lights and Christmas decorations and we ended the night with what Tyler calls "MoooVeee Night" Movie Night consists of laying every blanket we own on the living room floor(literally about 25 blankets)and we all watch movies and sleep out there. It is Tylers favorite thing and everyday he asks me if we can have a movie night. We all had a good time, especially Tyler.

This is a picture of Tyler pretending to take a picture of a snowman decoration that we have. This little snowman became Tylers best friend. He just kept giving him hugs all night and sitting in front of him and telling him to smile while he took his picture.

Tyler was really excited about all the Christmas decorations. He just kept running around and talking non stop. Whatever he saw us doing he wanted to help. He imitates Everything. Here he is using his hammer to help hang up the stockings.

This is a picture of the famous "movie night". Even though Tyler doesn't look that excited in this picture, on the inside he is thrilled. He is just so into the movie nothing can distract him. Rick and I can't hardly keep our eyes open after the first 20 minutes of the movie but Tyler stays glued to the TV not wanting to miss any part of the movie. We are usually awakened by either Tyler jumping on us to tell us something exciting about the movie, or he wakes us up by turning on all the lights and playing noisily with his toys. Finally at about 1 am I couldn't take it anymore so I left and went and slept in our bed and at about 2 am I heard Rick reach his boiling point and sternly giving Tyler the ultimatum of either he laid down and went to sleep or else he was going to have to go sleep in his own bed. Well Tyler didn't want to have to leave the slumber party so he laid right down and 2 minutes later he was asleep. It was quite the night!

Of course I couldn't leave Logan out of this post. He missed movie night because he slept in his crib, but here he is enjoying it the next morning.
